Intriguism Film/Video Reviews
"Perversion For Profit"
"This video gave me an erection! Good work! The music is perfect. The reverb on the voice in important words worked incredibly well.... once again, a great video. Keep it up!" -- Phil Polizatto, Writer
"Excellent - a real trip. I love the way you used voices and editing. Are you allowed to use these old films? I also saw 'The Pencil', which was great, but isn't there some sort of law against using commercial films?" -- Lee Balan, Artist
"LOVE IT!" -- Jo, Therapist

"Auld Lang Syne"
"I love the video!! I only wish the butterflies were brighter but maybe that's what you wanted. It looks just great." -- Peggy Vermeer, Artist

"Invisible Window"
"Thank you for e-mailing this video to me to watch. It was spooky (good). The music and timing and camera effects were so strong. I felt as if at some points with your intense expressions and motions, you were watching me naked at my computer..." -- Lori, Teacher/Activist

"The Vault"
"Once again, my friend, you did an amazing job on this. You elevate Lee Balan to a place where he has been longing to go. If you access some of the amateur videos Tim did of my (book) readings in Twisp, by going to the Schedule tab of my website, www.hungadunga.org, you will see I am in desperate need of your talents. Very sad that probably the best reading I ever gave, and the absolue best reception I ever received, was not professionally captured by someone like you. Then they would have been truly worthy of uploading to YouTube, (which I did, nonetheless.) The audio was fantastic. The sound effects and music, the narration, and above all, the script! You are a wonder. Please do for me what you did for Lee. I need your help desperately..." -- Phil Polizatto, Writer
"Great takes on art, ambiance, and visual effects. I find the 'Big Brother', gloom and doom, charlatan-prophet God-like voice very annoying, authoritarian, dogmatic; not at all in synch with the anti-art, grass roots' message the film conveys. The dramatic over-tone sounds forced and pushed on us, like the old canons of art. The visual is spectacular and impressing." -- S.
"The film is excellent. Exactly what I wanted. Only negative: Some of the words are a little mumbled, but I think they can still be heard. Thanks for a fantastic video." -- Lee Balan
"Need I say again - you are a genius. Thanks so much for this fine piece of work re 'The Vault'..." -- Patricia D'Allessandro, Poet/Author
"Great job!!!!!!!" -- Dondavid, Artist

"What To Expect"
'How cool is that? I am just catching my breath from the smoke and environmental pollutants..." -- Tony Barre, Musican

A Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name
"What a filthy, disgusting little dirty video. I am appalled! I could barely watch it, it was so DIRTY!! That dirty old man! That dirty young boy. But what a rat he was to tell his folks. Oh, those cops.... so DIRTY!!" -- Phil Polizatto, Writer
"Wow. Too intense for Youtube. This is something you shot? How did you manage to have old cars in the background? Or is this a combination of old & new material?" -- Tom Wise, Editor

"The Art Of Being Brother Andy"
"Who?...A genius, pure and simple..." -- Jo
"As always your videos capture a mood theme with the combination of the exact right music and editing, placing me in a mood. Even if I did not know you I would still want to keep watching your art videos because of your beautiful and different types of images..." -- Lori Adler, Activist
"I have to watch the video again, later today. The images are beautiful (and a little disturbing). You put yourself out there, exposing yourself completely..." -- Lee Balan, Artist
"This is great, showing the multi-facets of being human..." -- Shaktima, Artist
"Dunahay gives this a PG rating, 4 stars and 3 thumbs UP. 'This film delivers! Bro Andy is ready for his Close-up MR. D'... 'Fun for the whole family'... 'BroAndy (Copyright and Trademark) -- action figures available at TacoBell with purchase of Big Guzzle or The DHS medical marijuana shop and save. Some restrictions may apply...'...'Bro Andy is a wholly owned and operated by FACEBOOK....' " -- Robert Charles Dunahay, Artist
"I really liked your mixing! I think you look a lot sexier in levi jeans than in a dress however I am just a jaded old gay guy I suppose. Keep up the mojo!" -- Dondavid, Artist

"Desecration"
"Tim and I really liked this new vid. Viscerally engaging and educational! I guess I do more good by posting this on YouTube rather than sending you an email, eh?" -- Phil Polizato, Author
"You in the cage is my favorite image in this one...Tribute to Frances Farmer?" -- Denise Munro, Comedian/ Activist
"Loved this one. The sound effects and music combined with the compelling images make this film truly memorable..." -- Lee Balan, Artist
"Very cool. Where do you get some of that footage?" -- Dondavid, Artist

"What a lovely way for me to start my day with your as usual exciting video. Thank you. Your face and hand interpretations certainly caught the mood of the story and loved song. Even the editing was so exact..." -- Lori Adler, Activist
"Just in time for burn season again! Wasn't The Doors' 'Light My Fire' the theme of the Detroit riots in 1967 when so much of the city was burned and looted? What brought on 'Fever'? I enjoyed the video." -- Craig and Kathy Johnson

"Die Bitch"
"Loved it -- lol. I needed a good laugh..." -- Dondavid, Artist

"'The Bitch' is hard to watch -- but a noble experiement..." -- Lee Balan, Artist
"Now I know you've lost it!!!" -- Peggy Vermeer, Artist

"Swami"
"All this makes me sad; I like to cultivate beauty. The world has enough uglyness. We are all going to die anyway, so in-between I turn toward lightness of being to alleviate suffering, mine and others. I am not going to indulge in passive-aggressive modes. Been there, done that. Please, don't send me horror, porn movies anymore. Sincerely, in sister and brotherhood..." -- "S", Artist
"God, you look really, really good. I like the old movie feel. I'm not crazy about the other guy, he sounds like he's reading. But as always, it's interesting..." -- Denise Munro, Artist/ Activist
"Liked your use of Tchaikovsky. More technical flaws that I usually see, though. Some of the titles aren't on-screen long enough to read them. You look good, though..." -- Thomas Wise, Editor
"Eerily unsettling..." -- Leaky Mustang (Online)

"Denise Munro: My Life And Crimes"
"Wow - I actually took the time to watch this (instead of popping in into my "someday" folder, which is where 99% of the links people send me go these days). It's REALLY good!!! I forgot just how good. Did you just add the music or was it alsways there? If not, it adds tremendously. And WHO is that AMAZING actor who plays "STANLEY"????? lol..." -- Richard Tanner, Performer
"WOW - I am flooded with memories of that day, it was a blast. And were we ever that young. We were just little memories. And you know the video was shot pretty well considering the time. It still holds up..." -- Alice Spritz, Performer
"I'm hittin' that..." -- mvanier (online)

"Elysa Everson's Noemie"
"Nice videography..." -- Tony Barre, Musican

"Seeing Things"
"...Harmonious, graceful, artistic presentation; makes me think of Cocteau's surrealism poetic assemblage in his movies. Powerful music sustaining the pilgrimage in consciousness..." -- Shaktima, Artist
"...Absolutly wonderful!!!" -- Peggy Vermeer, Artist
"The videos are both beautiful ('Seeing Things' and 'Dinner Party At Patricia's'). I love the music on both. I'm not sure about the name 'Patricia's Party' -- I think just 'Patricia' might be better since there are no references to any gathering. The photo essay is very nice (I'm not sure the moving background works) -- but the images are captivating..." -- Lee Balan, Author/Artist

"The Greatest Entertainer Ever"
"Wow, this made me laugh so hard I actually cried!" -- Denise Robb Munro, Writer/Entertainer
"(i.e. 'The Greatest Entertainer Ever') ...you sure are, honey. Loved it..." -- Wendy Girard, Acting Coach/Actress
"I liked the compilation of film clips, but was not crazy about the "Michael Jackson" parody. It was too obvious and a little mean spirited (all true -- but I thought it was overdone)..." -- Lee Balan, Artist
"WOW..." -- Peggy Vermeer, Artist
"(Brother) Andy,You're AMAZING!!!!!" -- Debbie Dutch, Movie Star
"That video was hilarious. In extremely bad taste given the current situation, but I thought it was hilarious..." -- Jennifer Olsen-Bellis, Author
"OK...well, I don't get it. Does anyone? Does anyone even care? To me...you're wasting your talent. Like it or not, and some dont'...but I'm a plain-speaking person. Frankly, that 'thing' about Michael Jackson on YouTube is...what? Is it time to refocus? Regroup? Reassess? I feel you are capable of producing art that has worth..." -- Larry Merkle, Photographer
"Great stuff! I can't believe all the time in make up and set design with each clip. Love the Michael Jackson short!" -- Jean Bradley, Artist
"You're bad... But you're so good!" -- Shaktima Brien, Artist
"Brilliant! There are parts that remind me of Michael Jackson...coincidence?" -- Robert Charles Dunahay, Artist

"Africa Bound"
"Nice. Like the lighting, especially in certain scenes. Loved the cutaway of the starving peasant 'watching' the dancers..." -- Tom Wise, Editor/Writer

"Bad Acting From A Scene From 'Empty Interiors"

"I loved the video -- from the shadows to the pauses to the details..." -- Lori Adler, Activist
"Very interesting. Well done. Did you write the play 'EMPTY INTERIORS'? Your work always has a particular mood to it. How do you have the time to make all of these films? Are you retired? You certain are prolific...The costumes and makeup are also wonderful (as always)..." -- Denise Robb Munro, Comedian
"This latest vid is absolutely one of your best. I give it a 9 out of 10. The only reason I dont give it a 10 is that I felt the section with dropping the cards on the floor was a tad long and also there seemed a bit of a lag toward the end of the phone conversation where you were listening ... went on for half a minute too long maybe. (What was she saying in that long silence?) BUT this is the best acting I've seen you do. Definitely a 10 there. And your accent and intonation and 'speech pacing' were spot on, old chap. (Or should I say, old doll?) In short, you were totally believable. I really like the use of b & w for this one. I think you do really well w/ b & w. The production values, staging/choreography, make-up, etc. were excellent as well. I think you'd have a good chance of getting this one accepted in a short film festival. Anyway, keep up the good work! Funny you called that segment 'bad acting.' Must have been tongue-n-cheek 'cuz as I say it's very good acting. Character acting maybe, but very good. The lighting ... it should win an award..." -- Randolph Maxted, Poet/Publisher
"May be your best video work to date. I gave it 5 stars. The only thing that confused me is whether it was a totally original work. The title implies an adaptation..." -- Tom Wise, Film Editor
"I didn't realize that you were the 'actress' until almost the end. You are a GENIUS, but I know you know that..." -- Patricia Dallesandro, Poet/Artist
"Good video - love the character of 'Chelsea' (very nice acting)...." -- Lee Balan, Author/Artist

"That was fun! Thanks. Electrifying vocals, almost in sync. Just right..." -- Craig Johnson
"Kind of a modern day "Pinocchio"..." -- Jo, Photographer/Therapist

"The Great Imposter"
"You pulled off a woman beautifully. I admire your fearless experimentalism. You're doing great. It made me laugh too, the opening shots with the nonsense talk. Wonderful!..." -- Denise Munro, Comedian
"Nice piece. You were virtually unrecognizable with your hair and clothing so establishment! I wasn't expecting the blooper segment at the end..." -- Tom Wise, Film Editor

"Picture"
"Wow, wow, wow -- Very emotionally charged video ('Picture'), very charged...great music..." -- Emilio, Artist
"('Picture' is) Simple, emotional and a flattering interpretation of the affect of the music piece 'Mind Matters'..." -- Tony Barre (Muscian)
"('Picture' is) Reminiscent of Chief Ionize Cody, in the trash commercial in the '70's. Right on! E-Mot-Ting...Love it!!!! You were good! So SIMPLE!" -- Laurie Norris, Professional Costume Dresser
"('Picture' is) MAGNIFICO!" -- Sharham Farshadfar, Artist/Photographer

Intriguism Magazine Online Issue #2 Reviews
"The latest issue...Brilliant!" -- Robert Charles Dunahay, Artist
"...I've been reading through some of the articles on the new magazine. It's pretty fun and interesting..." -- Ryan Johnson
"BRAVO! This is truly FABULOUS! I'm so impressed with the scope and diversity of your artistic expression! Way to go!" -- Elizabeth Stephenson
"Well, it took me a while to get through the magazine. It is SO dense with stuff! Where do I begin? What I like: 1. I like the big boxes that are either supporters or sponsors of the e-zine and that there are hot links to their sites. 2. I like that in the contributor's section, there are links to contact them 3. The content is amazing. I will not comment on individual pieces because there is just too much there. Everything I have read, by everyone, is very good. I have no problem with the content, text and graphics. 4. It is very engaging once you start reading an article. 5. I like the past, present, future matrix. Readers need examples of what is and what isn't Intriguism. And by explaining it, one discovers it isn't black and white. Some things are partially intriguism, but not completely. Leads to the idea of a continuum. I like that. Simple and effective." -- Phil Polizatto, Writer/Film-Maker
"It's certainly unique and artful. never seen anything quite like it. I like the movie reviews of old classics...Interesting article on environmental pyschology. Never really heard of it before but it makes sense particularly the 'staging' aspect. Beautiful art by Minifred..." -- Denise Munro, Activist/Comedian
"Congratulations on the new edition! Looks very nice. Interesting as well as more aesthetically pleasing. It's a shame that it has to be viewed on a cold, sterile computer. The tactile satisfaction of a hand-held paper magazine would be nice. Anyway, nice work!" -- Tom Wise, Film Editor/Writer

Intriguism Magazine Online Issue #1
"I think the images that you are producing are very strong (f---ing great). I am especially struck by the 'Build-Ings' image and the 'eye ball' piece. Over-all 'the mag' looks really, really good. Intriguing. One striking phrase I recall from the Situationists is: 'The only people who are underdeveloped are those who see a positive value in the power of their masters'. I love what you guys are doing, confronting mass culture as a fraudulent coherence using a more rarefied critique. Always miraculous, always consequential. Thank you. I'll be consuming it in detail..." -- Walter Lab, Artist
"'Intrigism' is a beautiful magazine! The graphics and art are fantastic and make you think 'outside the box'. I think that's what the magazine is about, too. I really liked the article about fashion and how it died along with HIV victims." -- Princess of Liechtenstein, Martina Von Altenburg, Writer/Poet/Film-maker
"Thank you for your attachment. It's really great. Congratulations on all your hard work." -- Patricia D'Alessandro, Writer/Poet/Photographer
"Fantastic! You continue to take my breath away. You talk with us about an on-line magazine, but obviously we -- or rather I -- cannot fully appreciate what you are envisioning. I don't underestimate your talents and I continue to have full faith in the fact that you see it all in your mind and can actualize it in a way that exceeds every expectation! The magazine is simply incredible. And I was flattered I was included. And you used my little editorial on pornography... I mean 'erotica'! I was so surprised and delighted. I laughed and loved your little schematic explaining where ¡ntriguism belongs in the scheme of the many schools of art. Terrific. I have no specific input because I trust you implicitly -- you know what you are talking about...I take everything you say as gospel truth - the gospel of ¡ntriguism." -- Phil Polizatto, Writer/Poet/Producer
"Thanks for the magazine. Looks very nice. Uptown, even. And not a single lo-res image to be found. Silliness aside, it looks great. I loved the placement of the ad layout at the end, although I almost wonder if folks might be more accepting of the product if it were peppered with ads throughout. People are so numb to such offenses nowadays. But I'm not necessarily recommending that." -- Tom Wise, Editor
"Wow! Really interesting stuff. Congrats! I'll want to look it over so I can respond more thoroughly, but at a glance, it's gangster!" -- Ruth Nolan, Writer
"Very good work. I'm surprised and impressed. There are many things in this magazine that I like: 1. Jesus Chimp 2. Intriguism explanation 3. Art analyses 4. Tecktonik 5. Szukalski 6. LaChapelle art 7. Metropolis digest 8. Zac Efron (I don't like him but he's wildly popular) 9. Events and Happenings (deserves a recount of recent events and preview of upcoming events) 10. Other great content..." -- Corey "Cocky" Chambers (CEO VillageTV)
"The cover looks great! A really beautiful layout and striking graphic presentation. You are doing a wonderful job . . .The layout and art is great. It is fascinating. Your articles are well-written. Your articles are conversational and easy to comprehend which is perfect for a magazine (I may find something to complain about when I examine everything more completely - but I'm really impressed). Everything is accessible and entertaining. It really says something significant and looks extremely professional. Brother Andy, you are a great inspiration - full of unexpected surprises (not that I didn't already know that you are a creative master). It looks great. Thank you. The articles about me are wonderful. It is pretty amazing. I like all the additions and the graphics. The writing is damn good. It will definitely get the attention of lots of people and the art world in general. In many ways, it is a work of art. The articles are interesting and exciting. I really love the magazine. I enjoyed your article on fashion a great deal because you let loose with your witty and disabling social comments. The article on Szukalski is also excellent." -- Lee Balan, Artist
"YA, EL! AMAZING...BIZARRE...BEAUTIFUL...FULFILLING...I HAVE SEEN MANY, NONE WILL EVER COME CLOSE. MORE POWER TO YOU. I FEEL VERY LUCKY TO HAVE MET AND HONORED TO HAVE KNOWN WHATEVER I KNOW OF YOU :) I JUST GOT HOME AND MUST SAY, '! WHAT A GREAT WELCOME TO SIT AND GO THROUGH THE MAGAZINE!' ALL AND ALL - CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB MUCH MORE THAN WELL DONE." -- Sharham Farshadfar, Poet/Photographer/Fine Artist
"Brilliant!!! I would have advertised, had I known." -- Mandad, Artist
"Dear Intriguist Friends, CONGRATULATIONS! Impressive and professional literary magazine you have put forth into the Universe, my creative friends. You have 'winner' and a 'keeper.' Thank you for being on your list of recipients." -- Dessa Reed, Poet
"Great piece of work. I got started looking it over and found I had neglected (happily, grin ) my work at hand for almost an hour. Alas, I must return to things that must be done, but wanted to say thank you for a wonderful experience. I am looking forward to future issues." -- Jim Steinhoff, Artist
"Loved it…Thanks for sending." -- Tom Lido, Pacific Mountain Philanthropy
"Your initial issue is spectacular. I don't understand the new concept, but the writing and photography are very impressive. Keep up the creative work." -- Paul Dauenhauer
"Hi. Got your PDF -- amazing. You should be very proud. Of course, I haven't been able to read all 50 pages yet! But, the technology worked -- your publication is safe and sound on my desk top." -- Wini and Bill Brewer, Artist and Photographer
"Dear Ones, Thank you! THANK YOU! What a fabulous and HUGE undertaking! BRAVO and BRAVA!!! Much love and success to you all!" -- Elizabeth Stephenson
"Congratulations on your new on-line publication. It is not only impressive, but also a wonderful example of what can come together when a few talented minds contribute to such an effort. I look forward to your next issue. Keep up the great work. And please extend my congratulations to the rest of your talented friends who made this publication such an awe-inspiring smash. Best wishes..." -- Kurt Barrie
"The magazine is wonderful. The breadth of talent is inspirational. I like the 'look' as well. I hope you continue seeking out new talent and giving it a platform." -- Dee Randolph, Artist
"Wow, am I impressed with all of the efforts! You 3 have started a much needed movement! I can't wait to see the issue in 3-D.." -- Dondavid, Artist

Intriguism Books Reviews
"Your work ('Viewings: The Male Image') is amazing...Bravo once again -- very sexy very interesting and mysterious..." -- Emilio, Artist
"'Unholy' is great..." -- Robert Charles Dunahay, Artist
"Beautiful images ('Viewings')..." -- Shahram Farshadfar, Artist
"The book ('Viewings') is luscious. It is a gorgeous book..." -- Lee Balan, Artist
"Thanks so much for the book. It is really a beaut! These are pics (most of them, not all) that I would be proud to have blown up and framed and hang on my wall and never tire of looking at them. And to me that is the criterion I use when I go to one of those awful gallery openings: would I want that hanging on my wall? Would I tire of it? Does it reflect craftsmanship and a sensibility of design and beauty? Your pics meet all my criteria. It is quite a wonderful treat. You are certainly as prolific as always..." Phil Pilozatto, Writer
